What are the uses of refractory castables?

       Refractory castables are currently the most widely produced and shaped refractory materials. It is mainly used to construct various structures such as various furnace linings. Certain premium varieties can also be used in smelting furnaces. For example, aluminate cement refractory castables can be widely used in various heating furnaces and other non-slag, acid-free corrosion-free thermal equipment.

       In places where the working temperature is high, such as tapping tank, steel drum and blast furnace shaft, iron tap, etc., which are eroded by molten iron, molten steel and slag, it can be combined with low calcium and pure high alumina cement. A refractory castable made of high quality granules and powders with a high alumina and good sintering. For example, the phosphate refractory castable can be widely used in the heating furnace and the soaking furnace for heating the metal, and can also be used in the coke oven, the part directly contacting the material in the cement kiln. It is also effective to repair with high quality phosphate refractory castables in some parts of metallurgical furnaces and other vessels that are in direct contact with molten slag and molten metal. It is more appropriate to use a phosphate refractory castable in areas where the operating temperature is not high and the wear resistance is high. If a corundum refractory material is used to make a refractory castable, it generally has a good effect in a reducing atmosphere.

       As the lining and furnace body of thermal equipment, it should generally be baked before the first use, so that the physical water and crystal water in it are gradually eliminated to achieve a certain degree of sintering, and its volume and certain properties. It reaches the steady state when it is used. The baking system has a great impact on the service life. The basic principle of the baking system should be that the rate of temperature rise corresponds to the possible dehydration and other phase changes and deformations. In some temperature stages where the above changes occur sharply, the temperature should be slowly increased or even maintained for a considerable period of time. If it is improperly baked or not baked immediately, it will be prone to severe cracks and even loose collapse. It may even explode in the thick part of Tebent.

       In addition, refractory castables generally have a high normal temperature strength, and can be made into prefabricated parts at the kiln spinning site, such as continuous casting of intermediate tanks with refractory castable slab prefabricated parts (see color map insert page 20). Refractory castables are mainly used in metallurgical industrial furnaces and are also widely used in kiln and thermal equipment in petroleum, chemical, building materials, power and machinery industries.
