Technical measures to extend the service life of rotary kiln refractories

Due to the complex composition, the incineration waste has a strong erosive effect on the refractory material. The refractory material of the rotary kiln is prone to cracking of the refractory brick after a period of operation, the brick joint is loose, and the asynchronous displacement and falling off between the ring and the ring occur. . Since the rotary kiln is the key equipment in the engineering technology, the life and detachment of the refractory material of the rotary kiln is the main problem that directly affects the reliable and safe operation of the system. It is recommended to adopt the following specific measures:


    (1) Select excellent refractory suppliers. Refractory materials should be etched with high strength, high temperature resistance and acid resistance. At the same time, composite refractory castables or bricks resistant to low melting point materials such as glass can be avoided. For example, the refractory material used in a hazardous waste incineration project has a thickness of not less than 300 mm; the chemical composition is chrome corundum brick with an Al2O3 composition of not less than 80%; the apparent porosity is less than 20%; and the maximum use temperature is not less than 1700 °C.


    (2) The selection of refractory brick size shall be specially designed according to the characteristics of the hazardous waste provided by this project, taking into account the external dimensions.


    (3) A special refractory material is arranged on the inner side of the rotary kiln to locate the anti-skid structure, so that the refractory material in the rotary kiln always maintains the best expansion balance and the entire rotary kiln refractory material under repeated start-stop or abnormal operation conditions. The position does not move, preventing the refractory material from sliding abnormally in the longitudinal and radial directions.


    (4) Adopting a unique advanced construction scheme to change the rules of conventional refractory bricks and staggered masonry, using the same seam masonry, each circle is self-contained, and is not overlapped with the front and rear rings to ensure that when the rotary kiln starts and stops, When the synchronous displacement is not broken, the refractory bricks are not broken, so that the newly-formed lining refractory bricks do not squeezing adjacent bricks when displacement occurs in front, back, left and right.


    (5) Strictly follow the oven curve to carry out the oven, strictly control and monitor the actual oven curve, absolutely ensure that the actual oven curve meets the design requirements, and ensure that the oven is accepted and accepted at one time to ensure the quality of the oven.


    (6) Thickness control of kiln skin adhered to the surface of refractory material. Hazardous waste is sent to the rotary kiln body through the feed into the body for high-temperature incineration. After 60 minutes of high-temperature incineration, the material is completely incinerated into high-temperature flue gas and residue, and a stable slag layer is formed, which is commonly known as “kiln skin”. Refractory layer action. The thickness of the kiln skin is controlled within 100mm. If it exceeds, the kiln body will be unevenly stressed.


    Through the above five technical measures, the life of the refractory material of the rotary kiln is greatly prolonged, and the problem of detachment of the refractory material of the rotary kiln is effectively solved.


    4 Conclusion


    The waste components processed by the hazardous waste rotary kiln are complex and diverse, especially the alkali, sulfur, chlorine and other components are volatilized and have a high concentration in the kiln, which significantly affects the efficiency of hazardous waste incineration and the life of refractory materials.
