3. The temperature of the trench lining changes greatly. When the iron is discharged, the temperature of the molten iron is about 1500 °C. After the iron is stopped, the temperature of the trench lining drops sharply. At present, most of the blast furnaces in China have to spray water to cool the mud and cool part of the ditch to remove the slag. This makes the castables frequently in a quenching and hot state. Therefore, the castable must have good thermal shock resistance and oxidation resistance.
4. The iron ditches made of castables are a whole. No cracks exceeding a certain limit can occur during baking or use, otherwise there will be a serious accident of drilling iron or leaking iron. Therefore, the castable has a higher packing density and volume stability.
5. The adhesion rate of castable to molten iron and slag should be small, so as to avoid the removal of slag iron before the furnace. The castable should also have strong resistance to scouring and erosion of molten iron and slag.
6. When using intermediate repair, the adhesion of old materials to new materials is better. In this way, the service life of the trench liner can be effectively extended and the consumption of the refractory material can be reduced.
7. In order to avoid pollution to the environment before the furnace, the castable should not contain harmful substances such as tar.
