Guixi city, jiangxi province, has set up a dismantling and processing zone of copper industry circular economy base, where hundreds of thousands of tons of discarded mechanical and electrical products can be converted into recycled copper every year.

Currently, there are more than 70 copper smelting and processing enterprises in guixi, among which jiangtong group has an annual output of electrolytic copper of 1 million tons, and needs to import more than 700,000 tons of copper raw materials every year.In order to break through the bottleneck of copper raw material demand and copper resource shortage, the city innovated its development idea and made use of domestic and foreign waste mixed copper resources to create the first centralized disassembly and utilization processing park of abandoned mechanical and electrical products approved by the ministry of environmental protection in inland, which is reputed as an "urban mine".

With the approval of "shanghai-jiujiang-yingtan" water-land combined transport and "ningbo-yingtan" sea-railway combined transport transit, the containers filled with waste metal flow into the "waterless port" of guixi every day and are transported to 24 dismantling enterprises in the dismantling and processing zone through the logistics platform.After manual and mechanical disassembling and processing, "crude copper" was transported to more than 70 copper processing enterprises in guixi and processed into more than 100 copper products.For the whole of last year, the base paid tax of 313 million yuan and achieved main operating income of 22.302 billion yuan.

It is understood that after the complete completion of the copper recycling economic base, the annual dismantling capacity of 1.8 million tons can be formed, providing 450,000 tons of recycled copper for jiangtong group and local copper enterprises every year.Compared with copper mine, every 10,000 tons of recycled copper used by the enterprise can discharge 1.2 million to 1.5 million tons less tailings, 40,000 to 60,000 tons less smelting waste and 3,600 tons less sulfur, saving energy equivalent to 59,000 tons of standard coal and reducing production cost by more than 6 million yuan, with extremely significant environmental and energy saving benefits.

Last year, guixi city was officially approved by the state to become a demonstration base for "urban minerals".
